As you have heard - CRAFTSY - has created a wonderful venue for selling your patterns.

If you are an independent pattern designer looking to sell your e-patterns then you really need to check this out. It costs you nothing except a little time to set up your account.

So why am I repeating what was basically said in my last post - because I SOLD an e-pattern yesterday. My first e-pattern sold and it was because of CRAFTSY. I have sold hard copy patterns to one of my local stores but this was the first "on-line" pattern and what a thrill!

My New Frame or Quilt Fabric Wall Art Patterns are Done

I have completed my latest Frame or Quilt Fabric Wall Art Patterns. I really enjoy creating these. It also gives my husband and I some shared project time because he makes the frames (not that I couldn't do it myself, but its more fun this way) and I sew the fabric. Of course, if you don't want to complete the frame part of them, then simply complete the quilting part and hang as you would any of your completed wall quilts. It's easy and really enjoyable seeing the patterns come to life as you work on them.

The first one is Moms Joy, inspired by the memory of my mother whose name was Joy, who loved roses and the color blue.

The second one is Sunset Silhouettes, a picture I took when visiting my mother-in-law in Florida. The birds were sitting on a dead tree overlooking a pond. It was during the day, I have always loved the picture only wishing it had happened at sunset. That was what inspired me to recreate the picture in fabric with a sunset in their background.

And the third one is Cattails - I love the colors of Fall and have always loved seeing cattails and reeds on the side of the roads; nature I find is the ultimate inspiration

There are so many beautiful patterns available on so many different websites, I hope if you find yourself here on mine that you may be Inspired to try one of them.

I absolutely love this pattern. I was in Florida visiting my mother-in-law. My husband and I took her to a park and there was a pond with a dead tree sitting to the side and on the tree were two diving ducks.

I took a picture of them and really liked how they came out silhouetted. I took the liberty of adding a sunset to my pattern and am really glad I did.

A Thank-you to My Big Sister

I don't know how she does it. She took the time last March to help me with two new endeavors; first one was Inspired Creations by D, my Frame or Quilt Fabric Wall Art Pattern line and the second was Rock Garden Alpacas, the story of my husband and my journey into alpaca farming. She spent NUMEROUS hours working on the blog spots for both of these endeavors PLUS had to teach a somewhat computer illiterate what she was even talking about when it came to any of this stuff; never mind how to work any of it.

Now, some of you might say, well that was nice of her; but it is what she already has on her plate that makes it really truly astonishing. See, my big sister is Linda Walsh of Linda Walsh Originals, a truly unbelievable website that has everything from soup to nuts about crafting on it. Some of you may already be familiar with it but for others it is truly a website that needs to be visited!

She has all sorts of doll patterns for Grown-up Girls, as well as many Victorian, Holiday, Primitive, Woodland, Bridal and the list goes on, patterns that can be purchased at her Instant Download E-Patterns, site.

She also has a Gray is Beautiful line at Zazzle.com; just set up a new blog - It's Raining Baby Showers - where you will find all sorts of Baby Shower items; and has set up a Linda Walsh Original Fabric Designs site where she will sell her own fabric designs.

So as you can see, I have quite the Big sister.

Revision to Trillium Blues, Sunny Day Suzie, Dads Tiger & Pretty Pink Cones

As I was working on my current pattern designs it came to my attention that I may not have allowed enough of an edge on my previous pattern designs for folding over onto the backing board when framing - therefore, I have made the following revision to be inserted into the patterns.

REVISED SECOND BORDER SIZE WHEN FRAMING

Sunny Day Suzie Pattern add 2”

Dads Tiger Pattern add 2”

Pretty Pink Cones Pattern add 1½"

Trillium Blues Pattern add 2”

We all sew a little differently so finished squares may not measure exactly as the pattern shows – to compensate for this please do the following:

Please note that when cutting the material for the second border you will have to add 1½” - 2” additional width in order to have enough material to wrap and staple onto the back of your board to be framed.

The ¾ yd of material required for the second border for these patterns should still be enough material.

New Pattern Designs Coming Soon

I am currently working on three new pattern designs to be released early 2012.

"Cattails" features a group of cattails and reeds with some red leaves along the edge appliqued onto brown, green, gold, orange and yellow fabrics. My husband says this is one of his favorites.

"Moms Joy" is done in honor of my mother. She loved roses and the color blue. This pattern features 3 roses appliqued onto different tones of blue fabric.

"Sunset Silhouettes" features 2 water birds perched on a dead tree overlooking a pond at sunset. I took this picture a few years ago while I was visiting in Florida and liked it so much I wanted to duplicate it on fabric.

All patterns include forward and reverse pattern pieces to make cutting and placing your pieces to be appliqued much easier. Also included in all pattern designs are instructions for making the frames or if you wish, you can just quilt it and hang it on a rod or dowel.

My First Sale

Talk about beginners luck!

In Chenango County, NY, Town of Norwich, there is a wonderful Quilting Shop named Sew Nice, sewnicenorwich.com. I have been purchasing my fabrics there for the past few years. It is a warm and friendly shop with the most beautiful fabrics.

I had told one of the owners, Diane Marvin, about the pattern line I was developing and she had expressed an interest in seeing it when I was ready.

Today was the day, being a new entrepreneur I was understandably nervous approaching her with my patterns. I had told my husband I wanted to stop by her shop today to see when would be a good time for me to show her the designs. It was his suggestion that I put everything in the car "just in case".

When I went in the shop I of course asked her if she would be interested in taking a look and when might be a convenient time - I also let her know that I had the patterns and the completed pattern displays in the car if this was a good time. She said this was a great time and asked me to bring everything in. She was very excited for me and absolutely loved my designs - as did several of her customers that were shopping in the store at the time.

I had brought with me 5 copies of each of the 4 pattern designs. I did not know if she was going to be interested in just one, all 4 or maybe - none. If she was interested, if she was going to take them in on consignment or if she was going to purchase them outright. I was elated when she told me that not only did she want to buy all the patterns (all 20 copies!!) but she also wanted to display all 4 completed, framed designs in her store. She informed me that she felt that my designs were new and exciting and loved the option of quilting or framing the completed design.

She seemed to have no doubt that the patterns would be enjoyed by many.

Each pattern contains a digital picture of the framed fabric wall art, a list of supplies needed, instructions for creating the frame or quilt - fabric wall art, illustrations to guide you along, instructions for creating the wood frame, and full size pattern pieces.

Right now I have 4 original designs for you to choose from and hope to have many, many more in the near future. As I design new patterns I also hope to offer more "4 in 1" print pattern sets.

What Are E-Patterns and Instant Download E-Patterns?

You’re probably wondering what E-Patterns are? Well, they are complete patterns sent to you over the internet as a PDF (portable document format) file which can be downloaded directly to your computer.

They are sent to you via Email or they can be instantly downloaded which means no waiting for the postman to arrive.

Why would you want to order E-Patterns?

First of all, you save time and money. Time because you can get them instantly yourself or within 24 hours if you want them emailed to you by me. Money because our E-Patterns COST A LOT LESS then our patterns mailed via the post office.

Secondly, you can view or print them anytime you want with the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader (FREE download available at www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html).

What do you get with an E-Pattern?

Basically, you get our whole pattern just like it had been mailed to you, only sent to you electronically.

Instead of receiving our whole printed pattern in a plastic envelope via the post office you’ll receive the whole pattern electronically (minus the plastic envelope, of course).

How does it work?

There are two ways for you to get them.

You can order our Instant Download E-Patterns from the Inspired Creations By D designer page of the Linda Walsh Originals E-Patterns website by clicking on the “CLICK Here To Buy” link for any of our patterns. Here you can take advantage of the Instant Download E-Patterns shopping cart feature and buy one or as many “Instant Download E-Patterns” as you want, all at once. All of the download links will be emailed to you automatically once payment has been made to PayPal. Your email will contain all the download links for the E-Patterns you have purchased.

Another nice feature here is that if for some reason you shouldn't get the email with the links then you can go to your Account at our Linda Walsh Originals E-Patterns website and download your E-Patterns from there.

If you chose to purchase the “Instant Download E-Patterns” from the Inspired Creations By D designer page of the Linda Walsh Originals E-Patterns website please view our “How To Order and Download E-Patterns” page before purchasing.

Or, if you prefer you can buy them here on our Inspired Creations By D website as “Emailed E-Patterns” and we will send them to you as email attachments once payment has been made through PayPal. If you chose to have your E-Pattern emailed to you from us then when your payment is processed Paypal will notify us and we will send you an Email with the E-Pattern PDF file attachment within 48 hours at the latest. Printing Tips: All of our E-Patterns are scaled for 8 1/2” x 11” letter size pages so please make sure that when you go to print the E-Pattern that you select “NONE” under page scaling in the Acrobat Reader print window. Make sure to print it only from the Adobe Acrobat Reader otherwise the scaling may be off. Orientation is portrait.

Please make sure to supply PayPal or us with a valid Email address or you won’t be able to Instantly Download your E-Pattern or we won’t be able to Email your E-Pattern to you.

Please visit the “How To Order and Download E-Patterns” page of the Linda Walsh Originals E-Patterns website should you have any problems with downloading your e-pattern. Please note that the download links expire after 48 hours and after 3 attempts. FOR THE LOVE OF FLOWERS, ROCKS & BUGS

Inspiration comes from many areas and one of mine comes from my love of the great outdoors, nature, flowers, rocks and even bugs.

I have to admit that I have a "green thumb" that I probably acquired from my mother. She had a love of gardens and houseplants and was a "nurse maid" to many indoor plants and outdoor gardens.

As a child I followed behind her everyday while she inspected her gardens and listened to what she was saying about them and how to care for them; as a teenager I winced and complained whenever she asked me to weed them, as an adult I developed and understood her love for them.

For my poor husband this means we have many, many rock gardens now which is a lot of work - a lot of upkeep. It's also the reason why my husband's and my alpaca business is named "Rock Garden Alpacas."

So, I thought you'd like to see a slideshow of my gardens, rocks, and yes - even bugs. Gotta love them all.

FRAME or QUILT - FABRIC WALL ART

Inspired by my mother who when we were growing up sewed a lot of her 5 children's clothing as well as her own. She was quite the seamstress; usually following "Vogue" patterns for her clothing; making my sisters wedding gown, my maid of honor gown not only for my sisters wedding but my two friends weddings. Oh, and let's not forget the bridesmaids gowns for the same. Plus, she sewed the wedding gown for my sister-in-laws wedding as well as her own mother-of-the-groom dress. In her later years she enjoyed quilting and pillow making along with many other crafts.

Inspired by my sister who has ALWAYS loved sewing and craft making. I still have the quilt she made me when I was just a young girl many, many years ago, as well as a huge selection of dolls she has made then given me. I guess I should also mention that my sister is Linda of Linda Walsh Originals.

Inspired by a 1929 Singer Sewing Machine model #101 given to me by a dear friend, George, who when his wife passed away, wanted a fellow seamstress to have the machine. It is the best machine I have ever sewn on. I still use it to this day.

Inspired most recently by "Marty" a woman who I had never met but when her widowed husband joined our family in 2010, and when he showed me the quilts she had made for many years, the "sewing" bug which had sat dormant in me for quite a few years was reignited.

Inspired by my LOVE of flowers, nature and the great outdoors and all it has to offer. That, coupled with all the above, is the ultimate inspiration for my collection.
