Look What's Blooming In My Garden This Week

Despite the frost this past Tuesday that threatened to damage my gardens - my Grape Hyacinths are blooming beautifully.

As stated in Better Homes and Gardens Plant Encyclopedia:

Grape hyacinth

Muscari selections

Grape hyacinths paint the landscape in stunning shades of blue, purple, white, and yellow in spring -- and they add the sweet scent of grape bubblegum to boot. These easy-care bulbs are frequently mass-planted to create a river effect in borders. Their tranquil color scheme is a good background for the gaudier blooms of tulips. These undemanding small bulbs spread easily in any well-drained garden soil. Try the species or special cultivars such as 'Blue Spike' for container plantings or along walkways.

LOG CABIN Mug Rugs E-Patterns

People have been enjoying my original "flower" mug rug e-patterns so I decided to create another. There are so many different mug rug e-patterns out on the Craftsy and Etsy sites so I thought I would try something along the "rustic" side.

This series of mug rug e-patterns is called "LOG CABIN" and featured are a moose, an elk, a deer and a bear.

I have created five e-patterns in all.  Individual e-patterns for each of the above pictured mug rugs and then a combination 4 in 1 e-pattern which includes all four of the animal designs in one pattern.

The e-patterns contain detailed instructions for creating the quilted Mug Rug with illustrations to  guide you along the way, and full size pattern pieces. E-Patterns also include both the forward and reverse page for easy tracing onto the sew able adhesive for the applique portion.

The e-patterns are available as instant downloads in my store on Craftsy.

The individual LOG CABIN mug rug e-patterns are $2.50 each and the 4 in 1 e-pattern which includes all four animal designs is $7.95.

To order now click on the picture of the pattern you want below and follow the prompts from there.

My Big Sister

Have I told you about my big sister, Linda Walsh?

She is an amazing woman, extremely talented, creative, smart; a little crazy and a fantastic sister!

When I told her I was going to become an Indie Pattern designer and wanted to create frame or quilt fabric wall art designs amongst other things; she jumped right in and offered me TONS of advice and even set up my blogspot for me - Inspired Creations By D.

Then when I told her that my husband Karl and I were going to become alpaca farmers, breeding and selling alpacas along with alpaca fiber products, she again offered TONS of advice and set up the blogspots for them  - Rock Garden Alpacas and Rock Garden Alpacas Fiber

Well you would think that she has all the time in the world to do this but that is the really amazing thing; she is really QUITE busy with her own adventures.  You see, my sister is THE Linda Walsh - and these are some of her sites:

Why am I writing this now - well it is because she has done something amazing at  Linda's Spoonflower.com she has created a fabric line in honor of our alpacas, it is absolutely fantastic!

Take a look at what she has created - just click on the link  My New Alpacas Rock Fabric Collection.

I think you will find she is as amazing as I do!

Look Whats Blooming In My Garden This Week

My Parrot Tulips are in full bloom this week and I absolutely love them.

I am just a little torn - do I create a quilt pattern for this or a needle-felting pattern; maybe I will have to create both and then decide which one to make the pattern out of.....

As stated in Better Homes and Gardens Plant Encyclopedia:

Tulip, parrot hybrids

Tulipa selections

Parrot tulips are flamboyant with their curly, twisted, and fringed petals that resemble the colorful feathers of the tropical bird of the same name. However, their beak-shape buds are what earned them their moniker. Nearly all varieties of parrot tulip are vibrantly colored, and many are two-toned.
Parrot tulips bloom mid- to late season on stems ranging from 12 to 28 inches tall. Their huge blooms do not stand up well in windstorms or rain, so plant them in a sheltered location.

"Sunset Silhouettes"

ICBD007LWEP Sunset Silhouettes E-Pattern

35 1/2” L x 24 1/2” W Frame or Quilt - Fabric Wall Art

E-Pattern With Framing Instructions

I absolutely love this pattern.  I was in Florida visiting my mother-in-law.  My husband and I took her to a park and there was a pond with a dead tree sitting to the side and on the tree were two diving ducks.

I took a picture of them and really liked how they came out silhouetted.  I took the liberty of adding a sunset to my pattern and am really glad I did.

"Sunset Silhouettes" is 20 pages containing a digital picture of the framed fabric wall art, supplies needed and detailed instructions for creating the frame or quilt - fabric wall art; illustrations to guide you along the way, instructions for creating the wood frame, and full size pattern pieces.  Pattern also includes both the forward and reverse pages for easy tracing onto iron-on transfer paper.

I hope you enjoy creating "Sunset Silhouettes".

I offer emailed e-patterns and print patterns and they can both be purchased here on my website.
